The ultimate spa
Practical ways to pamper yourself at home
Let’s face it. Few of us have the money or time to spend a whole day at the spa, enjoying head-to-toe treatments that leave us so relaxed we need to hire a cab to get home. As nice as that sounds, these at-home spa treatments will leave you looking and feeling just as rejuvenated.
• A nice, long bath is a must. Infuse the water with lavender or eucalyptus oil to leave your skin soft and your mind calm.
• Exfoliation is especially important during summer months. It rids your feet of calluses and allows your skin to better absorb your moisturizer. For an easy, at-home remedy, mix table sugar into your favorite body wash and spread generously over the skin.
• To treat yourself to a DIY mani/pedi, you’ll need a few important tools – cotton balls, clippers, your favorite polish and top coat, a pumice stone, lotion and nail polish remover. This season’s hottest colors for fingers and toes are really bright, so don’t be afraid to make a statement!
• Don’t forget to take care of your hair, too! Smooth your favorite deep condition through your tresses, then wrap your head in a piece of fabric or plastic wrap and warm it up with a blow-dryer to seal in the moisture.
You deserve a little pampering, but if you have a busy schedule, you’ll never get around to it. Instead of waiting for free time that will never come, block out a few hours (or a whole day) of “me time” on your calendar, and commit to keeping that date with yourself.
